About the Blue Throat Triggerfish
Belonging to the genus Xanthichthys, the Blue Throat Triggerfish is widely celebrated among aquarists as one of the few triggerfish species suitable for reef aquariums. Unlike its more pugnacious, benthic-feeding relatives, this species naturally plucks zooplankton from the water column. Its streamlined body and graceful swimming style make it a spectacular focal point for a large marine setup. A strong case of sexual dimorphism makes sexing straightforward, with males sporting the characteristic blue jaw patch and yellow fin margins.
