No, they are definitely not reef safe. Clown Triggerfish will readily eat snails, crabs, shrimp, and urchins, and are highly likely to bite or knock over corals while exploring or rearranging the tank.

Why is my Clown Triggerfish sleeping wedged in a rock?

This is completely normal behaviour. Triggerfish use their locking dorsal spine to wedge themselves tightly into crevices at night. This keeps them safe from predators and prevents them from being swept away by strong ocean currents.

How quickly do Clown Triggerfish grow?

They grow relatively slowly compared to some large marine fish, typically gaining a few centimetres a year, but they require a very large aquarium from the outset to prevent stunting and aggression as they mature.

Will my Clown Triggerfish bite me?
