About the Electric Blue Crayfish
Native to the swamps and wetlands of Florida, the standard *Procambarus alleni* is naturally brown or reddish. However, a specific genetic mutation has been isolated and selectively bred in the aquarium trade to produce the world-famous 'electric blue' colouration. These intelligent, busy invertebrates are utterly fascinating to watch as they endlessly forage, rearrange their substrate, and investigate their environment.
