About the Electric Blue Hap
The Electric Blue Hap (*Sciaenochromis fryeri*) is undeniably one of the most spectacular freshwater fish available in the aquarium trade. Mature males develop a radiant, electric blue hue that immediately draws the eye, often accented by a brilliant white dorsal blaze. As a member of the Haplochromine flock from Lake Malawi, it combines striking aesthetics with fascinating cichlid behaviours. While widely sold in the hobby, it is frequently mislabelled as *Sciaenochromis ahli*, a distinct and much rarer species. To thrive, these energetic hunters require spacious aquariums and carefully selected tankmates.
