About the Freshwater Limpet
Freshwater limpets (most commonly *Ferrissia* species in the hobby) are tiny, often overlooked inhabitants of the planted aquarium. Unlike traditional snails, they possess an uncoiled, cap-like shell that sits flat against surfaces. They typically enter aquariums as hitchhikers on newly purchased plants. While some aquarists view them as a minor visual nuisance when they multiply on the front glass, they are entirely harmless to plants and livestock. In fact, they serve as excellent cleanup crew members for nano setups, diligently consuming microscopic algae and biofilm.
