About the Gold Barb

Originally developed in the aquarium trade from the wild green-coloured Chinese Barb by American breeder Thomas Schubert in the 1960s, the Gold Barb has become an enduring favourite. Their vibrant, metallic yellow colouration and peaceful, active nature make them fantastic additions to the home aquarium. Because they are native to sub-tropical regions, they do best in unheated or moderately heated setups, offering an excellent, energy-efficient choice for indoor aquariums.
