No. They are detritivores and algae grazers. They will only consume dying or decaying plant matter, leaving healthy live plants completely untouched.

Will they overrun my aquarium like pest snails?

No. Unlike bladder or ramshorn snails that lay hundreds of eggs, trapdoor snails are livebearers that reproduce very slowly. A population explosion is highly unlikely.

Why is my snail's shell turning white or pitting?

Shell deterioration is usually caused by acidic water (pH below 7.0) or a lack of calcium in the diet. Adding a cuttlebone, crushed coral, or feeding calcium-rich foods can help prevent further damage.
