How can I tell the difference between male and female Kribensis?

Males are larger (up to 10 cm), more torpedo-shaped, and have extended, pointed dorsal and anal fins. Females stay smaller (around 7 cm), have a noticeably rounder profile, and boast a much brighter cherry-red or purple belly.

Can I keep two male Kribensis together?

It is not recommended in standard-sized aquariums. Male Kribs are territorial and will constantly fight for dominance and territory. It is best to keep a single male-female pair unless you have a very large tank (over 200 litres) with distinct, separated territories.

What is the best cave for Kribensis to breed in?

They prefer dark, enclosed spaces with a single small entrance that is just large enough for them to squeeze through. Half a coconut shell with a small notch cut into the rim, or a small clay pot laid on its side, works perfectly.

Why is my female Kribensis vibrating and bending her body?

This 'S-curve' shaking or vibrating is the classic Kribensis courtship display. The female is showing off her bright belly to the male to signal she is ready to spawn.

Will Kribensis eat my shrimp?
