About the Montipora Setosa
Montipora setosa is highly prized in the reef aquarium hobby for its vivid orange colouration and utterly unique morphology. Unlike many typical branching or plating Montipora, the 'Setosa' often forms an encrusting base before pushing up thick, blunt, irregularly fused branches. This contorted growth habit creates a striking architectural centrepiece in the home aquascape. While it is classed as an SPS (small polyp stony) coral, it is often more forgiving than tightly branched Acropora species.
