About the Ruffe
Often overlooked in favour of more colourful or prominent species, the Eurasian Ruffe is a fascinating member of the Percidae family. It bears a passing resemblance to a small European Perch but is easily distinguished by its heavily mottled brown colouration and a continuous, joined dorsal fin. In the wild, they are highly successful benthic feeders, thriving in environments where other fish might struggle to find food.
