About the Salt and Pepper Cory
Widely known in the aquarium hobby as Corydoras habrosus, this miniature catfish was recently reclassified as Hoplisoma habrosum in a 2024 taxonomic revision. It is frequently confused with the much larger Peppered Cory (Corydoras paleatus), but the Salt and Pepper Cory is a true dwarf species, rarely exceeding three centimetres in length. Along with C. pygmaeus and C. hastatus, it forms a trio of highly popular dwarf corys. However, unlike the mid-water swimming C. pygmaeus, it spends almost all of its time exhibiting classic bottom-dwelling behaviour.

Angelfish
Pterophyllum scalare
Angelfish grow large enough to view dwarf corydoras as a food source, which usually results in the angelfish choking to death on the catfish's rigid pectoral spines.
