About the Sarasa Comet
The Sarasa Comet is a spectacular variety of goldfish defined by its elongated body, deeply forked tail, and striking red-and-white colouration. The term 'Sarasa' refers to this bold, painted-on pattern, while 'Comet' denotes the sleek, single-tailed body shape originally developed in the United States during the late 19th century. Because they visually resemble the Kohaku pattern found in Koi but stay significantly smaller, they are highly sought after by pond keepers with limited space. Extremely hardy and highly active, they add constant movement and flashes of bright colour to garden water features.

A captive-bred ornamental strain. The wild ancestors occupied slow-moving rivers, lakes, and ponds across East Asia.
The Comet body shape was developed in the United States, while the 'Sarasa' (red and white) pattern was selectively bred later to mimic popular Koi markings.
