About the Sleeper Blue Dot Goby
The Sleeper Blue Dot Goby is a highly sought-after marine species, prized equally for its subtle pearlescent beauty and its exceptional utilitarian value. Constantly at work, this goby takes large mouthfuls of sand and filters it through its gills, extracting beneficial microfauna and detritus. This behaviour helps to keep the sand bed oxygenated, beautifully white, and free from cyanobacteria build-up. Its common name is derived from the iridescent blue spots that decorate its operculum, adding a brilliant splash of colour to its otherwise pale, streamlined body.
