About the Snowball Pleco
First described in 2002, Hypancistrus inspector earns its scientific name from its noticeably large eyes, appearing as though it is always 'inspecting' its surroundings. Reaching around 15 centimetres in length, it features a bold pattern of large white spots against a dark brown or black body. It is often confused with the smaller L201, but the true L102 has larger spots and a slightly more robust build. Because they inhabit the fast-flowing waters of the Casiquiare drainage in Venezuela, they appreciate a well-oxygenated aquarium environment.

- Great
Cardinal Tetra
Paracheirodon axelrodi
They occupy the middle to upper water column, thrive in similar warm, acidic water, and will not compete for bottom territory.

Discus
Symphysodon spp.
The Snowball Pleco handles the high temperatures required by Discus perfectly and acts as an excellent, non-aggressive cleanup companion for meaty leftovers.

Hypancistrus spp.
Males will compete aggressively for caves and territory. Hybridisation is also a significant risk if keeping closely related species together.
