Why are the leaves on my newly purchased Water Wisteria solid rather than feathery?

Most commercial nurseries grow Water Wisteria emersed (above water) because it grows faster and is less prone to algae. The solid leaves are its emersed form. Once planted underwater in your aquarium, new growth will naturally develop the classic feathery, deeply lobed appearance.

Can I leave Water Wisteria floating at the top of my tank?

Yes, Water Wisteria can be left to float, and it provides excellent cover for fry when kept this way. However, it looks its best and grows most securely when anchored in the substrate.

Why are the lower leaves of my Water Wisteria turning yellow and falling off?

This is typically caused by insufficient light reaching the bottom of the plant. As the top of the plant grows, it can shade out its own lower leaves. Regular trimming and replanting the tops can prevent this.

How quickly does Water Wisteria grow?

Under ideal conditions with strong light and adequate nutrients, Water Wisteria is an extremely fast grower and may require trimming every week or two to prevent it from taking over the aquarium.
