Will Yoyo Loaches eat all the snails in my tank?

Yes, Yoyo Loaches are voracious snail eaters. They will easily decimate populations of pest snails like bladder and ramshorn snails, but they will also attack and kill large ornamental snails like Mystery or Nerite snails.

Can I keep a single Yoyo Loach?

It is highly discouraged. Yoyo Loaches are extremely social and rely on a group dynamic to feel secure. Kept alone, they may become withdrawn, stressed, or atypically aggressive. A minimum group of five is recommended.

Why is my Yoyo Loach sleeping on its side?

This is entirely normal behaviour for Botiid loaches. They are notorious for resting at strange angles, on their sides, or even upside down in caves. As long as they are active during feeding, there is no cause for concern.

Are they safe to keep with shrimp?

Generally, no. While they might ignore larger Amano shrimp if well-fed, smaller dwarf shrimp (like Cherry shrimp) will quickly be viewed as a natural food source and hunted down.

Why are my Yoyo Loaches losing their colour?

Yoyo Loaches often 'grey out' (lose their dark markings) when establishing dominance within their shoal or during squabbles over food. If the fading is permanent or accompanied by lethargy, it may indicate poor water quality or illness.
