How this works
Keeper levels
Levels reflect a combination of the keeper's declared experience and their confirmed activity on OneShoal. They are not a rating, an endorsement or a welfare guarantee.
Keepers do not choose their own level, and levels are worked out separately for freshwater, marine and pond keeping.

How the Setup Index works
The OneShoal Setup Index is a 0–100 view of the evidence recorded for a single setup: water stability, care consistency, stocking and compatibility, Setup Scan observations, equipment and how complete the record is. It is not a health check, a welfare guarantee or a rating of the keeper.
- Likes, community ratings, plans and Ambassador status count for nothing here.
- Keeper levels never raise a Setup Index, and the index never raises a keeper level.
- Where evidence is thin we show Building confidence instead of a number.
- Setup status — New Setup, Establishing, Stable, Mature — describes how established the record is, never whether animals are healthy.
Discovery and ranking
- Community Rating is the plain star average members give a setup.
- Top Rated uses a weighted score, so one five-star vote cannot outrank a setup with many strong ratings.
- Most Liked counts one like per member.
- Newest uses the date a setup was made public, not the last edit.
- Shoal Ambassadors are chosen by the OneShoal team — never by plan, likes or AI.
